Well it's 11pm Monday night and I just got back into town, (and only one day late, wooohoo).
We fished the Eagle Valley & Echo Canyon tourneys this weekend and had a blast! I can't even tell you how many fish we caught! Okay, I can try.
We fished Echo Canyon the first day, and caught 27 trout between the three of us that were there together in the morning before noon. We ended up keeping 9 of those for dinner. I went bass fishing later that afternoon with 4 others and caught 11 bass myself, having to keep 2 of those that were hooked bad. Sunday morning was a little tougher, between the bottle of Jack Daniels, us and the two campsites next to us partying all night, and the 300 or so anglers that fed soooooo much food to the trout the day before, we ended up catching only 12 trout before noon 9 but it was ok, we started at 10. Okay, so there we are bass fishing again at 4pm and lo and behold 16 girls in a bachelorette party stopped by to play, fishing was over after 24 fish and 3 little ones kept.
Anyway, we decided after another late night, that we would stop by Pahranagat to see how everything looked for the campout on the 18th. Here's what we learned.
Right now the carp are spawning like rabbits !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The dam is being repaired and all access is bannned from the area. Good News: I talked to the foreman and he said that they would have work done by the day we are there. There is a new concrete walkway across the dam to a new wildlife lookout and handicap piar. Also, there is a new handicap accesible slab for the south restrooms.
Bass and sunfish are biting, and there should be no wind.
CANOES ARE WELCOME! No boat motors over 5hp.
We also talked to the ranger and he told us to be sure to have someone ther on Friday to insure we have a campground. (Please RSVP if you would like to be at the campground)
He also informed us that they will be enforcing PFD Regulations and any anglers should doublecheck the information on your new licenses for any inaccuracies of dates and information. (Lo-and-Behold one of the dates was wrong on one of ours.) Luckily, there was also a discrepancy on the times the clerk wrote down.
He said they WILL BE WRITING CITATIONS, so be sure.
